Where We Started
"Service to Mankind is Service to God". With this simple motto, we started our Samajam thirty five years back. During the period of Mandalam and Makaram, it used to be a tough call to decide as to how we could accommodate Poojas when most our members wanted to have a pooja at their residence, since the fact was that we got only 8 weekends when everyone could attend the Pooja. That is when the thought came that we will form a Samajam and do the Pooja in a common place where all the members, their families and well wishers can participate.
Our Activities
Once we started the Samajam, the agenda and objectives also got expanded and all of us decided that we should do possible service to the society, especially the poor and needy. Apart from the Annual Iyyappan Laksharchana festival, our Samajam dedicates its time and effort to serve the society.
- For the last twelve years, the Samajam has been performing Samashti Upanayanam for deserving kids.
- Whenever brought to our notice, we try to support, to the extent possible for some critical medical requirement.
- Few shool going kids are helped with their tution fees and books.
- We also undertake a portion of the maintenance expenses of a temple nearby.
- Annadhanam has been a regular feature of Laksharchana festival every year. We also contribute to a few orphanages every year.
